Janne,
From first impressions it seems to me that you have used rather a lot of
allegedly 'cool' tricks but forgot the golden rule... just because you can
doesn't mean you should. And since they all seem to appear at the expense of
the site's content, then rather than enhancing the site, it comes across as
all so much 'bling-bling'.
I think a vast majority of people would infinitely prefer a simple, clean
site with lots of easily accessible content rather than lots of trickery.
IMHO I think that whenever you design anything for the Web you have to come
at it from the users' perspective, never your own. You've posted the URI on
here so you do seem prepared to take other people's opinions on board, but
unless you are getting a lot of positive feedback in the first instance then
I would definitely recommend going back to the drawing board.
On one very specific point, please restrict your use of italics to when you
need to emphasize only one or two words and even then I would say that it's
better to embolden text than to italicise it. The reason being that anyone
with even slightly impaired vision (don't just think of blind people here,
think of people who are maybe over about 60 when the eyes aren't working
quite the same) is going to find your text far more unreadable than someone
with perfect sight and the chances are that will have them navigating away
from your site. Somehow I don't think that's what you had in mind.
Good luck.
Regards Carmen.
