Possible to get iis on Windows XP Home Edition?

Hi,
I'm taking a class right now at college where the prof. is showing us
some projects done in MS .Net Framework, using ASP.Net and VB.Net,
we're suppose to do one soon. I'm running MS Windows XP Home Edition
at home but can not locate IIS on it, I need it for the .Net
Framework, any ideas on how to get it without having to upgrade, the
OS came with my Sony Viao, I don't recall if the XP cds were there,
I'm pretty sure all I got was cds of backup software, so I can't look
at the cd to see if IIS is there, any ideas?

There is no supported way to run IIS on XP Home edition.
For this I suggest you use the free cassini web server:

Home does not include IIS since that is a server application. There is
an app named WebMatrix that should be able to at least let you test
your application on the same system. You cannot connect to it from
another machine, but you should be able to test and debug your ASP.NET
application using it. It's a free download from MS.

XP Home does not have IIS. You can get XP Pro as an Academic version,
or a server version. You can also use the Server 2003 120 day trial
for your learning. You might also want to check with your school,
some have made volume licensing deals that get you academic version
licenses less expensively.

I won't comment about how lame any college that doesn't provide access
to the software needed for a course is. You should have received a
trial version or academic version as part of your textbooks, or at
least have it available on a school system.

Hello,

No, IIS is not available on Home Edition. I suggest that you talk to your
college. If you are supposed to use XP Pro in your education, they might
have a license (MSDN AA) to have students use XP Pro.
