about building the project

hi i am working central build system . I have strucked in writing the
script for the build module .i donot kno what is in the perl file of
the build module and i want to know how to write build file ie in the
perl script if any one know how to set the build environment variables
for the metrowerks code warrioe IDE and for the Visual DSP tool please
let me know .
