A Java machine would be a computer that is able to execute Java programs.

The JVM executes bytecode. So, maybe, its name should actually be »BVM«
- »bytecode virtual machine«.

»Java processor« is also the designation that is commonly used for
processors that execute not Java, but bytecode.

I don't think it is that funky that a Java bytecode executing Virtual
Machine is called a JVM.

I think the real problem is that SUN chose to use the same name
for language and runtime environment.

But nothing to do about it now.
