Fixed Point Arithmetic

Hi What packages do i have to add and how to use fixed point arithmetic? arent they part of the ieee standard? xilinix 12.3 ask me whether to use VHDL-93 or VHDL-200X and in either fixed_pkg.all is available in the ieee library :s pls help
