How to use a downloaded applet

Hi,

I want to use an applet that gets downloaded from a website.
Specifically, its a stock ticker that i want to use. What are the
steps one can follow to do this...one more query, why is it not
possible to save pages with applets, that is, even when i save a page
which contains an applet, when i open it thru my hard disk, it doesnt
show the applet...
