interbase + fireruby + rails

Hy.
A simple question: I have a Interbase DB. I use Rails and I access to
the DB using fireruby.
Is it possible insert blob data (strings) into a blob field? I cannot
do it and I cannot found tips on google.
Someone can tell me if it is possible and how, maybe with a little
example?
