Is there anybody who ever embedded perl code to MRTG?

I want to monitor some interfaces by MRTG and store infromation got by
MRTG to Mysql.Now i 'd like to write perl code to update database,and
want to embed the code to MRTG's so that when MRTG fetchs network
information it has to run my perl code to store the information.
I got following 2 problems uncertain.
1)Can I embedded my perl code to MRTG's?how to?
2)Can I get the information that MRTG get?how to?

1a) Yes, the current versions of MRTG is written in Perl.
1b) RTFM and/or STFW

2)Can I get the information that MRTG get?how to?

2a) Yes.
