Just heard on NPR's "Nightly Business Report" that IBM shares fell on
the announcement that IBM is exporting 4730 programming jobs from the
US to India and China.

I didn't realize that IBM /had/ any 4730 programmers left. That's one old
machine, and was superceded long ago. I remember working on it's successor, the
4731.
I see the handwriting on the wall, and it spells: M-c-D-O-N-A-L-D-S.

Why? Does McDonalds have programmers for the 4730 around? I didn't think that
they had any 4730s left in their DP shop.

That was my first thought on reading a follow up post, and I had
to go back to the original to see what it really meant.

Is the 4730 related to the 7030?

By the way, did you know that the 650 had decimal floating point
arithmetic? I don't think the 7030 did, but the 7070 may have.

Re: OT: IBM exports 4730 programming jobs from US's a bad trip! Dig
it!
No, I was just posting a news item.

But why did you post it? It doesn't belong here.
