I'm tossing this in here just to (benignly) troll for your thoughts on
it. David Baron has just made a case against what he considers misuse
of floats, going so far as to compare it to the misuse of tables for
layout. He links to an Alex Robinson positioniseverything article
which advocates using floats for pretty much everything. He also links
to a (resolved) mozilla bug entry which may be worth reading if you've
got time to kill -- there are comments there from Ian Hickson and
others.

Hmmm, so where does he suggest an alternative layout method, one that
gives acceptable results in WinIE?
