Build My Own CRM

I want to build my own personal web-based CRM that I can use to track my own clients. Nothing major - just contact info and contact history and maybe a few other basic things. Where should I start? What systems are the best to use for this? I am a newbie and want to learn the ropes.

If I were doing this, the first thing I'd do would be to try the CMRs out there. Most have a free trial period. I'd use that time to see what they offered and what I liked. Then take a look at google sheets.

If you want to build your own from scratch you need to learn HTML/CSS/JAVASCRIPT/mySQL and some PHP.

P.S. I know all those things, but ran a small business using google sheets.
