Page.FinControl and getting to the ID in the control tree

I worked on comparing Master Pages with ASP.NET (1.x, 2.0).

I ran into interesting issue with FinControl. It does require for me to pass
Client ID not the design time ID for the control I am trying to find.

I tried to use Master Pages and Cross Page posting with ASP.NET 2.0 and
could not reterive control by its deisng time ID rather I had to specify
Control tree contrainer.

Do you know a work aournd this issue?
