What kind of laptop do you have?

Does anyone out there have an HP Pavilion dv8000t? I cannot get it to run
Visual Studio 2003 and am wondering if anyone else has the same problem? I
can't even reinstall the operating system, it says the hard disk is not
found.

If you do have another laptop that you use for development (particularly
using Visual Studio 2003), what kind do you have?

Thanks for your input.

I think the fact your hard disk can't be found is a slightly bigger
problem and probably reflects your inability to run VS. :)

If you want to re-install the operating system and the windows setup routine
is telling you it cannot find a hard disk then it is probably because windows
does not have a driver for the hard disk controller, you need to press the
relevent key when it says "press key xx to load aditional drivers" (i think
the key is F5) during the blue initial setup loading screen.

I am using a Sony VAIO PCG-GRT996ZP for visual studio2003 and 2005, it works
well and is very powerfull and has a nice 1600*1200 res screen, but the
battery only lasts about 50 minutes so you can't really have power and
battery life it seems.

Yes, I suspect so, am planning on sending it back and if I have to buy a new
one would like to know what others have experienced, then maybe I can make a
better judgment on what I buy.
