In Knuth's "The Art of Computer Programming" series there are some
very tough problems in the exercises (and they are specially noted as
such).

Why not find a real nice project in SourceForge or the Gnu Herd and
put some shine on it?

Since you are an engineering student, a statics or dynamics package
might be up your alley.

Really, if I were you, I would pick something that is really, really
interesting to me. That way, I would stay motivated.

Hi ravi,

Last year i was in B.E(comp). (From june 2006 to june 2007 .. waiting
for my result).
I want to ask you something.
You really want to develop your final year project in C/C++ ?
My advice to you is choose some advanced development technologies like
J2EE, J2ME, or the .NET from microsoft.
Why you should choose above options for project ?
My answer : These are the latest technogies which will help you get
the job in software industry. Because after doing B.E it becomes very
hard to find the job, if you haven't studied any one of the above
technologies. and you will become B.E but no job. Because there are
very few companies who develop projects in C or C++.

But

If you have job in hand right now, or you got placement through
college campus interviews. Then I would suggest you to go for C/C++
project. You can develop following projects using C/C++

1> Linux kernel Development or addition of linux applications to
kernel

2> Hardware control using C/C++

3> file storage and retrieval from different computer or storage
system. (Data storage management,Data streaming, file distribution
etc)

4> or you join some linux forum where you will get some good topic for
project development.

Thanx

For basic to advanced (small codes only not projects in C )
C source codes

Getting Placements are not that Tough first!
But dont get urself digging a pit 4 u

Decide ur project based on ur staffs i have bitter experience when i
started a challenging project on RFID 1 yr bfore when i got no
financial aid i got backstabbed

If u really wanna C/C++ go for Solaris or BSD or LINUX developments

get into GNU development as already gnubangalore people are working on
it

J2ME will be better option aws future world s gotta dwelled on mobile
4 @least a decade

Start by killing any post or phrase that uses the phrase "C/C++".
The C and C++ languages are independent, and different. There is
no such language as C/C++.

I suggest a course in spelling.

"C/C++" does not exist. C and C++ are different languages that share
some common syntax.

I think it has to be all your own work for a final year project. Not a
team project or adding to something else. Also in most universities
they "own" the final year project so you probably could not do it as
part of a larger open source project.
Really, if I were you, I would pick something that is really, really
interesting to me. That way, I would stay motivated.

That is the main point. You need to choose something that motivates you.

WE don't know anything about the project.
YOU know the topic.

I can't tell if "dproject" is a typo,
or if it is supposed to mean something.

If, as you say, you "have decided the topic",
then I can't tell what it is that you want.

It seems as if you want a completed project
by somebody who doesn't know what the topic is.
i'll be glad to get that.

I am ready to pay also.

my partner is a complete dumb ass...

That problem may be just a little bit more common than you realise.
please someone help me out .

Get out!

Please be aware that you are posting to Usenet. It is a global BBS network
and participants are not expected to be aware of national and local customs
and quirks. Do restrict your post to the topicality of the group posted to.
In this case you should have specified what project you have decided to do,
what is your difficulty in implementing the said project in ISO C and your
attempt at a solution, if any. Instead you have chosen to waste everyone
time by rambling about your University, (which is much better than many
others in India, may I point out), and your project partner.

Perhaps your best course of action would be to provide us with the email
address of your teacher.
