I understand parallel port programming can be quite easily done. I am not
sure if USB-to-parallel port programming can be just as easily done. Are the
libraries used still the same? Can someone point me to some useful website?

Whether and how depends on all sorts of things, including your OS and
what you are trying to achieve. Since it is OS specific you need to ask
in an OS specific news group, and provide them with rather more detail
about what you are trying to do.
